I like my brass nice n shiny and my ammo stacked and packed nicely. I had been reloading 38 special, I box em up in blazer/federal 380/9mm/38/357 trays and pack em 800 to a 50 cal can. those trays snugly fit 4 in the bottom of a 50 cal can. I recently started loading 45 and have been trying to figure out how to store the suckers. 45 trays arent nearly as common as 380,9,38,357 trays when I dig through the range trash. I'll find two in the trash(recycle bin ;) ) on a good day

That being said, does anyone know where I can find quantity of the trays I have in the picture here? they measure 5.45"x2.73"x.8" tall and you can perfectly fit 20 full boxes in a 50 cal can. I would just throw em all in a can and call it a day, but A) alox lube is sticky and will mess up my shiny cases and B) I like to lot and date my ammo and "rotate stock" as I shoot it)

any advice on how you store your 45 ammo is appreciated

Trays are great.

Free ones are even better.

Frank arsenal makes a smoked 45 box that is cheap, and fan-danged-tastic.

Currently out-of-stock. But, so is everything, so thats not surprising. This item floats in and out of stock very frequently pre-newtown anyhow- I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.

When I get enough made to stash them aside, Winchester brass bags hold about 250 rounds of 45 aco loosely- you can stuff some of the bigger caliber bags a bit more, or more firmly- I do this with a lot of items now adays.

I also use those trays you mention- but I use them as loading and sorting blocks.

I have about ten of them in circulation at any given time.

Lemme see how many I can dig up- I'll get back to ya.

I use the 50 round boxes similar to the one shown above. If you order 10 at a time all 10 are shipped in a separate heavy cardboard carton. Cut the top off the carton and you have a strong tray that holds 500 rounds (all boxed up in 50s) and fits neatly on a shelf. Leave the top on the carton and you can double, triple, or quadruple stack the cartons.

+1 on 45lcshooter.

At the range, don't be shy, walk around and ask people if they intend to throw out their empty boxes, etc. I just pulled a few of the 9mm boxes out of the trash yesterday (on top), they come in handy.

Is there any company that just sells plane jane plastic trays? I know there are places that sell cardboard boxes with cardboard grid dividers, but those seem like a one time use kind of thing. Ive used mtm and berrys boxes, but I really do like plain ol trays for both storage and transport to the range. my range bag has a hard bottom so there havent been any tipping over of open trays. I only use a couple of my 100 round mtm boxes to keep a hundred 38's and a hundred 357's in the truck for those unexpected range trips or the rare occasion that I run out of ammo at the range before my trigger itch goes away :D

Glad storage containers are low cost and useful. You can usually steal some out of the kitchen in the middle of the night!
