Ammo with no gun

The Banic may be far from over. I read some disturbing news today where the ecomonist was recommending folks buy guns, ammo and prepare a bug out bag.

I would keep it for the time being. You have nothing invested in it and 600 rounds is not very much ammunition.

Thanks for all the replies!! I was focused on what to do now, but this doesn't take up much room and can sit.

I have friends that shoot .40's and we'll get together sometime. I'll help them get a dirtier gun. :)

For the people that asked, it is factory ammo - some Remington Mega pack and some Blazer, and some Armscor. Nothing real expensive , but I wouldn't worry about offering up to a buddy. I don't shoot others reloads, and wouldn't offer them to a buddy.

Will you still want the carbine once you run out of the free ammo?

If yes, buy the carbine.

If no, sell/trade the ammo.

I'd make the best of it. Burn some of it with friends who own guns in .40 and trade some of it for components or ammo you can use yourself. Or split it 3 ways and "karma" some of it.

I got 15 boxes of Wolf .40 S&W from my father-in-law. Same situation. Trying to sell it or trade it. Traded the S&W Sigmas for a Rossi M92. If I can find someone willing to trade the .40 for .44 or .45LC, I'm game.

Save it for when the government fails. Then use it as barter or you might find a 40 laying around

No.

And if you think that way, sell/trade it now for the kinds of things you might barter for or with. Soap, water filtration, good boots, first aid supplies, communications equipment, etc

Please stay on topic. We don't do SHTF, government collapses, etc.

The OP's question was pretty straight forward.
