Saw this product at Amazon. I'm curious about your thoughts or perhaps experience. I scavenge a lot of brass at my range but I'd love to do it without stooping over so much.

I bought one of these things from Dillon. Mine has a long handle that doesn't collapse. Its big and unwieldy, and very "high profile" for use at an indoor range. I use it outside mostly, where it does pretty good if the grass is shorter and there are no leaves (long grass and/or leaves will defeat it).

I have one and it works great when the grass is short. I have used it indoors as well and it worked better than it did outdoors. I would recommend it if you are a brass scavenger.

That sounds like a good idea, cause after I get done shooting i allways pick-up my spent brass. I wonder how it would work in soft sand that is compressed?

I don't think it would work very well on compressed sand. You have to apply some downward pressure to it in order for the metal "basket" to separate enough to pick up the brass. I don't think sand would offer enough resistance in order to get the basket to separate.

Depending on the size of the gravel, the gravel will spread the loops too wide, so you'll lose brass at times. If you steer clear of rocks/large gravel, you should be fine.

I use mine in sand, it works pretty good, beats bending over my gut. You can't pick up a lot of cases before you need to empty it.

I use one called a Brass Mower. I love it! If I forget it on a range trip, I'll turn around and go back to get it. My club range always has lots of freebies laying on the ground everywhere.

Lol...this is what I have a 6 year old for....lucky for me, me enjoys picking up the brass after we shoot. He thinks it's some kind of game. He also sorts it if we shoot more than one caliber.
