Forgive me if this doesn't belong up here, but I was noticing something the other day.

It seems to me that the more ammo I have on hand, the more likely I am to fire any given firearm. Case point: I have 15 rounds for my .260 Remington and a scratched sizing die I need to replace. I haven't fired that rifle in a couple of months, for fear of using up all of my remaining stock of cartridges.

Now I also have a .44 Magnum levergun and revolver. These get fired about 50 rounds each ever other week, sometimes every week, weather dependent. I usually have 400-600 rounds loaded and on hand for these. So it isn't unusual for me to burn 100+ rounds of .44 in an hour and change at the range.

This kind of reminds me of the restaraunt where you get a huge, impossible to eat plate, but you fill yourself anyway because it's in front of you.

Does anybody else seem to have this problem, or is it just me?

It's a problem? No ... it's not just you ... heh ...
I have noticed that the more ammunition I have on hand, the more likely I am to find an excuse to get out to the range and burn it all up ... I stock up at gun shows, thinking I've got enough to last for months, and then two weeks later, the cupboard is almost bare again ...

A couple of years ago I loaded every piece of brass I had. I ended up with 1500 rounds of .45acp, 500 rounds of .400corbon, 250 rounds of .30-30 and 1000 rounds of .357.

This kept me going for about a year.

I then didn't reload for about a year, and bought all my ammo. I shot a lot less that year.

I have been reloading again over the last 2-3 months and I shoot more as a result. I end up shooting about 300 rounds or so a month (not counting .22LR). I seem to like loading ( and shooting ) .44magnum the most.

I think it being "a problem" may be just you. However. I have over 10000 rounds of .22LR and about 3000 shotgun rounds (12, 20 &.410) but I usually shoot 9mm or my .300WSM. My 9mm, I usually have abou 300 rounds and my .300WSM, I usually only have 100-200 rounds.

Hmmm... Maybe it really is you ;)

Ammo consumption? Not enough for me. I'm about out of .40 and .45 so I was putting together a big order of production ammo to restock, but then I noticed how much prices have increased. :what: This weekend will be a reloading extravaganza. :D

Man I have to go to 3 or 4 different walmarts every month to keep up with my shooting habit and keep a bunch of ammo home. 200 rnds. a week of .45 and 100 or so rounds of .40. Shooting long guns is inconvenient here so I only do that once a month if even that.

its simple , remember when you were a kid and Easter would come around and you'd get lots of candy,,,,and ate lots of candy? same way with ammo ,,,,the more you have the more you shoot. i do the same thing.:)
