Ammunition manufacturing/purchasing statistics.

Does anybody know which source I can turn to in order to find out how many cartridges were manufactured/produced throughout the world/country for a give n caliber???
I would really appreciate the help.

the BATF might but I doubt it. the companies won't because I'm sure they would consider that "inside only" information and wouldn't want the other companies to know

Actually, the US Census has some of it, in a not-very-current way:ammo production data Data from 1997; more this year, supposedly.
