I have one in my safe. Got it years ago with a bunch of my friends. Some had some that worked; others had theirs jam. :banghead: I put about 100 rounds through mine without one failure. Those others who experienced problems did so within those first two boxes of ammo. Took mine home, cleaned it up real purty and it's been there unfired ever since.

Well, when I bought it, Rugers were hard to get, especially stainless ones. And the AMTs did have those cool custom triggers and Millett sights, not to mention the wrap-around rubber grips.

My other friends who got them and who had theirs work never had any problems develop. The ones who had problems never could seem to get rid of those problems, so they instead got rid of the guns.

I'm just wondering now if anyone has one and whether it works and, if so, whether it's well liked as a firearm.

I was looking at it the other day. It does look bitchin.

Plenty accurate, but needed quite a bit of work to make it reliable. First off, I had nothing but problems with the AMT mag. Tried adjusting the feed lips, but just wouldn't work. Finally started using Ruger MK II mags.

Also replaced the extractor. The original was really poor quality metal. Once again, used a Ruger MK II part.

Also stoned the bottom portion of the bolt where it rides over the cartridges. Was really rough and sharp.

Then, started having misfires. The firing pin seemed to be made out of the same poor quality stuff as the extractor. Replaced with a Ruger MK II part, but required some work on my part to make it fit (firing pin length was ok, but was too wide and had to be stoned/sanded down.
