It's a reality that states rights to pass law has challenged the bounds of infringing on the 2nd Amendment to the max in states like CA, NY, CN, NJ, ect..... have pushed and pushed. Prop 63 passed in CA is just one of many examples.

Now that the conventional wisdom is the all future nominees in the next 4 years to the Supreme Court will be conservative and pro 2nd, do you feel that 63 can be challenged successfully? I think yes, and once a favorable ruling is held then future protections would be defined.

Being after Heller we constantly hear that it was ruled "reasonable restrictions" are acceptable, why not define "reasonable" now? I feel for my Brothers and Sisters in unfree states, but I also feel through this adversity we can definitely come out ahead.

Let's define it now, instead of during an uncertain future. If the antis think 10 rounds is legit, let's see. Ammo tax, tracking, insurance, ability to carry from outside home, anything you can look at the gamble just got far better odds for our side than theirs. If they think making undue laws are justified, let's have it now. Pass all the gun laws you want, let's do it. With the circuit and appellate courts about to be changed as well we may not even see the cases needing to go to the SC.

I think we might be prematurely counting the chickens. Remember that Trump is a recent (or as some would say, a "convenient") Republican, and being a New Yorker he is likely somewhere to the right of Bloomberg and somewhere to the left of you. I hope against hope that he turns out to be a good President, but I won't quit being nervous until he shows who he is. You'd have to agree that he is one unpredictable cuss.

So in California pot is now legal and bringing ammo in is illegal. I predict ammo stores opening up along the interstates going into CA selling ammo.

doubtful, as they have already turned down similar cases stemming from CT and NY.

They ONLY upside to Prop 63, is that they are too stupid to realize that we can make our own ammo, therefor components are not listed in their new Ammunition Law.

That's right. The previous court with Scalia alive refused to take up similar cases. Scalia and Thomas wrote scathing dissents to no avail. If another antigun justice passes away (Ginsburg?) then maybe the court will take another look.

Question for the group, please give a short reply. I will be traveling to CA with my EDC locked, unloaded in the back of the jeep.
Is there anything new I will have to prepare for?
Yeah, you need to prepare for landslides, earthquakes, drought, a high crime rate, dope heads, liberals, and getting beat down for voting republican,

Don't know if this is correct, but I noticed someone elsewhere mentioned that along with needing a background check to buy ammo, previously grandfathered mags over 10 rounds now have to be turned in?

If so, are they registered? If so, so much for registration not being used against you.

Essentially correct. Grandfathered mags over 10 rounds will no longer be grandathered. Turned in, destroyed, or sold out of state.

They are not registered but there is some exemption having to do with being a FFL but I don't know those details and don't know if a FFL needs any thing special on top of being an FFL.

If they're not registered, then they have effectively created a new class of criminal with the stroke of a pen. I'm sure many will not turn them in as happened in CT. Lots more "assault" rifles and "hi-cap" mags there then were registered when required to by the new law.

Come now. Don't underestimate those who drafted this bill. That fact is certainly realized... but how do you eat an elephant?
