After the last AWB fiasco vote in Washington I called Sen Lugar's offices in Washington and Indianapolis to express my anger in the way he voted. My name and address was taken down by the staff weenie at each location and I was assured that Sen Lugar would write a letter to me explaining his vote. (I'm sure it will be a very personal response and not a form letter  ) Well, it's been a couple of weeks and I haven't received so much as a post card. Has anyone here in Indiana received a response from him? I'm not expecting any earth shattering revelations from him but I would like to have something in writing from him so that I could respond back to him on specific points.

I also contacted Lugar. No response received just yet, nor do I consider that I will get one for many weeks to come. My experience has been that IF you get a reply, figure that it will be a minimum of 6 weeks afterwards before you hear anything from him.

Everytime I think of his many votes against the 2nd Amendment, it makes me want to :barf:! We have GOT to get him out of office!

Verbal explanation from his staffer

I was told the RINO's vote was the result of study info Lugar has researched that came from Federal angencies. This research cited a "plunge" in crime rates as a result of the AWB. I requested a copy or links to these resources. I want to see where they cite 30% or 60% numbers proving the ban works.
I was lied to and Lugar is not working for Indiana or American best interests.
Another note for Indiana Residents. 7th dist republican candidate Bob Croddy is new to politics and is not a libertarian turncoat. He needs an assist in the primary and name exposure. With enough support he could unseat Julia Carson.

Let us know if and when Lugar's staff actually provides the needed information.

One thing that I have found to be the case is that when I've called his office prior to any sort of vote, I've always been told that the senator hasn't decided yet. When I pointed out to one staffer that this was ALWAYS the case, they had no response. I went on to say that a reasonable person would then conclude one or more of the following:

1. The senator DOES know, and he has told you to tell us otherwise.
2. The senator DOES know, and he hasn't told YOU!
3. With all of the available information, not to mention constituent input, he can't decide, indicating that he's not fit for office.

After pointing out these three alternatives, there was further silence.

We have GOT to get him out of office! :fire:

If I had no clue he was a RINO

I would have hurled dinner tonight. My letter was dated April 22. When I spoke with one of his staffers and heard some mention of the 65% and was told it was something he found from FBI documentation or reports.
Lets figure out if Croddy or Eric Miller would be a good replacement for him. We can start working on some of this now.
Also when is Evan B up for re election.

Could some of us sue for making so many of us feel physicaly ill from this letter?

....what a shame that he doesn't live up to his pro-gun sounding name...I've always had a weakness for Lugers.

Want to make a difference in this seemingly apathetic state?

Here is a little snippet from an email I received today from the Boone County Coordinator for Mitch Daniels campaign, I thought it was very significant if you ever wondered how best to help elect "your guy".

"Ever wonder if having volunteers at the polls REALLY makes a difference? Consider this…..in voting locations that we had a volunteer actively pushing Mitch – we won 74% of the vote. At the locations that went unmanned, we won only 58% of the vote. With over 50 volunteers county-wide today, we did a terrific job! But we must double our efforts in November and this summer to help Mitch’s total numbers."

Jeez, who would have thought that individuals could make such a difference? My point here is that with the incredible amount of apathy that exists toward voting in the primaries especially, it seems that even those that do turn up to cast their vote are not necessarily 100% sure whose name to pick when they arrive at the polling station. Mitch Daniels won yesterday with 66% of the votes, what would happen if more people became actively involved just at the level of manning a station for a few hours? To me it's a no brainer.

Seems like a real good opportunity to make a difference to me...

One interesting thing to keep in mind is that this reference to 65% keeps cropping up in the responses that THR members have received from the jerks in the Senate who voted in favor of renewing the AWB. This almost sounds like a talking point that was circulated by someone coordinating the vote against us. This brings to mind a couple of questions....

1. Has anyone been able to actually get the source data that these guys are referring to, so that we can debunk it?

2. Who directed them to this data? The fact that so many of them are using it doesn't pass the smell test. One way or another this smacks of some behind the scenes coordinated effort by some anti-gun group. :scrutiny:
