Well i had been looking to get a revolver as my first real gun for awhile. And finally the wife said go for it, this is after i passed up a colt king cobra! Well i went to my local shop and looked around. I walked over to the revolver case and did not see any Ruger GP100s, the guy behind the counter said they where all out and did not have any. I was kind of bummed. But i looked anyways.

I seen a SW 686 4" SS for $500, no bar. I held it and truely was not impressed with its action. Very gritty and rough, and the cylinder was rough on the swing out. I seen a nice Dan Wesson on the self for $250, but after talking to the guy in the shop he said parts are very hard to come buy since they no longer make them. They might be or they might not be, not what im here to talk about.

Then just to make some of you cry I asked about some taurus revolvers. The one guy had no idea, he was a rifle man. The other guy, who helped me said they where really nice guns and everyone he has in store had been fired in shop before they even put them out. After holding the SW and DW, the first Taurus i held was the Model 66 with a 4" barrel. Amazing action, so smooth i about cried. Great lock up and timing. Perfect gap, i asked if they had a shim gauge and they did.

So needless to say i walked out of there with a brand new Taurus Model 66. I got a box of American Eagle .357 and a couple Winchester White box .38specail. Those .357 are something if you aren't ready lol...But the .38 specials are great, no real recoil that i cant handle.

One thing I would like to mention is the entire time i was looking and checking out the guns i held, i was remember what was said on this forum. This place really helped me make a good educated decision, even if you think Taurus aren't good. Thanks a ton guys. I will post pics when i find what the wife did with my camera.
