I've seen these punt guns/boats, NOW these are KEWL!!!

There is a maritime museum in St Michaels MD that has these on exibit. I went with my fiancee on a romantic getaway there and we ended up at the museum. There are some shoulder fired guns that boggle the mind. I recall one being referred to as the aspirin gun for obvious reasons.

There's another nice waterfowl museum and punt gun exhibit just outside of Assateague National Seashore down on the Virginia eastern shore. Great exhibits of kegs of blackpowder, sinkboxes, lanterns, etc. Read Michener's classic Chesapeake for some great stories about market hunting with the punt guns.

I've seen quite a few of these, living where I do and being involved so much in shooting.

I was present of the firing of one of these during the waterfowl Festival in Easton some years ago. It was a cannon, not a shoulder operated firearm. IIRC, the charge was a coffee cup of coarse black powder and the same volume of #2 shot. Damage on the target, a wall sixed cardboard sheet with goose drawings, was impressive.
