I am about to get my ccp and I want to carry IWB. I have been told I can't go wrong with a McDaniel II by Andrew's Leather. Does anyone have experiance good or bad with these holsters? Other holster suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for the help!:D

I've seen Sam Andrews and his holsters at gun shows here in Florida. The holsters are definitely well made but IMO the McDaniel leaves WAY too much of the trigger guard area exposed.

As you can see in the picture, the full front face of the trigger is exposed. Gives me the heebie-jeebies just looking at it.

You might contact Mr. Andrews and aske if he will make one for you that covers the trigger guard area completely.

Oh as far as other IWB holsters, the only one I use is a Kydex Mad Dog Gunglove. Sadly, they are no longer in production.

Thanks for the info. I was surprised by this apparent oversight on what seemed to be an otherwise quality holster. I decided to call the man himself and find out what was up. He explained to me that the pistol in the photo has a SA trigger and mine is a DA/SA, therefore the trigger on mine is set forward of the one pictured.
I had already decided that I wanted to get one of his holsters unless some thing serious was brought to my attention. An exposed trigger is pretty serious but apparently that is not an issue in my situation. With that issue resolved I felt that there was only one choice to make and I had already made it. SIGN ME UP!
I ordered the McDaniel II in black with the optional body shield. I should have it in 3 weeks! I'll let you know how I like it when it gets here.:D

I have a McDaniel for a Colt Combat Commander 38 Super. The leather goes to up to the trigger. Also have Glock 19,17 and trigger is covered. In all I have 9 of Sam's holsters. And just talk with him last week and order a saddle holster for a P220ST. He makes some of the Best leather goods I have ever seen. Call and talk to Sam. He always does every thing he can to help me.

Oakseed,

You're welcome. I'm glad my post was helpful. Let us know how your holster turns out.

BTW, 3 weeks is excellent delivery time for custom leather.

Mine completely covers the trigger on my full size 1911s, even the one with a short trigger.

The cool thing about the McDaniel rig is that the belt loop is way behind the body of the holster.

It pulls the heavy butt in tight AND doesn't add to the thickness over the body. Great rig.

three week turn around?

Alfadog,
I do not want a lot of people calling Mr. Andrews expecting to get 3 week turn around like me. I must explain that I have a friend with a shop that does regular business with Andrews and I was able to slip my order in at the last moment with an order my friend had already placed. Mr. Andrews told me that otherwise it would have been March or April on my order because he does not keep SIG 225 holsters in regular stock. However, I would have gladly waited the 2 months for leather of this quality.

still waiting!!!

"However, I would have gladly waited the 2 months for leather of this quality."

Three weeks has come and gone and I'm still waiting. However, It is not Mr. Andrews fault. My supplier added some more items to the order and caused some delays.

Andrews Custom Leather

The MacDaniel II for my Kimber pro(4")covers all but the very back 1/4" of the trigger guard .I have 4 other holsters from Sam and quality /fit has always been top-notch. Sam strives for the two month delivery but I have (once only) waited 13 weeks for a shoulder rig.(2 major holidays were involved).

IT'S HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took delivery today of my new holster. I said I would gladly wait 2 months, well it's been 4!!! As mentioned above there were some delays that were not Mr. Andrews falt. I called in the middle of the drying prosses and asked him to increase the size of the sight channel. ( I plan to put big dot exress sights on my pistol in the future.) Anyhow, it was worth it. the holster fits like a glove, and the draw is smoooth and intuative(sp.). Now I need a good belt. I think I am going to get a wilderness inst. belt until I can afford a Andrews belt later.:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Any updates on the Andrew's holster?

I'm considering purchasing one and would like any feedback you care to give. I especially like how the design pulls the butt of the gun's grip into your back. I need a good IWB for my Kimber Ultra Carry.

Oakseed, I wanna hear how your holster is working out. Conceals well? Draw is good? How's it holding up? I have the Galco IWB that is similar to the Macdaniel, but not nearly so good. I'm looking to get an Andrews as I already have one of his mag pouches, it's pretty darn excellent.

So lets have an update :D
