Angry and Happy with Nikon

I have the 2.5 -10 X 42 with BDC reticle in a Nikon Monarch scope. I was trying to perform a ladder test for my RRA predator pursuit at 200 yds with the above scope but was unable due to parallax which is real bad at 200. Anyway I zeroed my rifle at 200 as best as I could.

Now the happy part, during Memorial weekend I went out to Terlingua/Big Bend area where my brothers have property and decided to try out the BDC reticle at 511 yds. I was extremely surprised that the BDC reticle was dead on at that distance. Without the need to adjust we hit our target several times.

But I am still angry at Nikon for not having a parallax adjustment on such a great scope. I love the fact that I can shoot at as far as 600 yards without having to dial in. Anyone have similar experiences?

The scope was a gift from the wife. I doubt that she knows what parallax adjustment is. I'm sure the sales man sold her on the BDC, which does work. Anyway, most scopes that do not have parallax adjusment are good to 100 yards. I have cheaper scopes on my 22's that do not have the obious parallax this does.

I'm thinking of putting it on my remington 513T or 52C wiinchester. I have both ken vianni mounts on them. This should easily get me to 300 or 400 yds without reaching the elevation limits of this scope.

I love the BDC reticle. I'm in the process of selling one of my two prostaffs that have it, but more out of necessity than a lack of usefulness.

I use the reticle from 300-500 yards no problem.

Looking at Midway's site, they make 1 without adjustment for $400, and make one with a side focus for $700

I'm still not clear how you can be angry the company, if they offer a model with parallax adjustment, but the purchaser chose to buy the model without the feature

The problem is that I cannot perform a ladder test. Most of you are focusing on the fact the the BDC reticle works. I am trying to find a load that will work best on my AR. With the parallax problem if the shot is off I am not sure if it is the load, or me or the scope. Ladder tests are designed to find the correct load for your rifle and its particular harmonics. Thus the title "Angry and Happy with Nikon".

If your scope is set to be parallax free at 100 yards and the parallax is such an issue at 200, why don't you do your ladder test at 100 yards to find your most accurate charge weight?

any rifle I plan to shoot more than 150yds gets an adj parallax scope. This scope was a gift from somebody unfamiliar with the feature.
Sell the scope if you are unhappy, replace with similar looking model, tell nobody
