I was wondering if anyone knew how much holdover each one of the "ballistic circles" below the crosshairs corresponds to on Nikon Monarch BDC scopes. In other words, is the first circle...2 inches, 2.125 inches, 2.25 inches, etc. holdover above the crosshairs, the second circle 3.5 inches, 3.65 inces, 3.75 inches, etc. holdover above the crosshair, etc..? I'm just wondering because I am going to order a Nikon Monarch 2-8x32 scope to mount onto a Marlin XLR 45/70 rifle and was trying to figure out if I should order the Nikoplex reticle or the BDC reticle. I know the BDC is set up the ballistics of a typical rifle, not the rainbow arch ballistics of the 45/70. What I was trying to figure out is...say I zero my rifle at 100 yards and I knew that the center of the first circle is say 2.125 inches of holdover...I could look at a ballistics table and say the the zero for the first circle would be 130 yards for instance and so on. Does this make any sense or not? I was just trying to figure out if the BDC reticle would be of any kind of benefit to me or not, or should I just stick with the plain Nikoplex reticle. Thanks for any comments.
