Was at the gun show in Portland, OR this weekend and bought a great carry belt. It is 1 1/2 in wide 2 layer double stiched cowhide. Won't sag even carrying my solid Stainless DW CBOB.

Just bought a belt from this guy at the Puyallup Show. Two big thumbs up. He "doesn't do the Internet" but give him a call. Great craftsmanship and quite a character. His name isn't really "Jack", but call him anyway.

Just a topic that needed a Local bump.

I was talking to the fellow at the last Show here in Portland.

He's giving up, jumping on the bandwagon, and will have some sort of Internet presence later on this year.

I've been wearing one of his heavy duty belts as my daily dress belt, and It's currently being stress tested as I type this with my Schofield and my M&P riding on opposite hips while I putter around doing Housework.

I have one too, 1.5", got it in the Puyallup show. I agree, it is a very nice hand made double thick, well stitched belt. I use it for my G29 in a Milt Sparks VM2 and it completely disappears. I have been using it for a few months now, and it is broken in and works marvelously. Note that the G29/VM2 rig would NOT hide well at all using a regular store belt, even a "good" one.

This is now the only belt I use. His business card is cool too --it is a piece of stamped leather. Oh yeah, we bought a dog leash from him too. Very well made, tough, looks nice, and, well, no complaints at all. The leash was cheaper than the junk sold at pet stores too.

I'd say the guy is on par with the best.

What's the difference between a belt that is just plain thick and one the is the same thickness but is two pieces? Won't the one piece stand up longer? Seems the stitching would be a weak point.

the double thickness belts are generally better than a single strap of 9 oz leather as the two pieces of leather "torsion" differently and the two acting on each other tend to stiffen the belt.

Also, stitching is not normally something you have to worry about as the stitching is under no stress. I have double belts that were made 20 years ago and the leather is warped, and worn, but the stitching is fine.

As long as they use a good quality stitching...
