Another “What kind of Caps”

I’m fairly new to the Black Powder muzzle loader world but not BP cartridges. The “Great Shortage” was well underway when I got the Old Army, so finding supplies has been tough. I already had plenty of BP on hand, a few lbs anyway, make my own lube and wads and usually cast my boolits. So far I haven’t been able to find a .457 round ball mold, but have found a few hundred balls from Hornady and Track of the Wolf. Percussion caps has been the hardest to find so I have got what I could when I found them.

CCI #11s is all that I’ve been able to find so far and those in small LGS a few at the time. Matter of a fact I found 400 yesterday at pre-panic prices. I’ve read in other posts and other forums that Remington and CCI are not too good, (someone compared them to a trailer park) so I’m wondering, What do you guys consider the best? By the way the couple hundred rounds I have fired have all been with CCI#11 and every one went bang so far. When things settle down I’d like to buy what’s best.

CCI caps are fine. I personally prefer RWS 1075 regulars, but have a healthy stock of CCIs as well.

I’ve heard good things about RWS and could have bought some from T of W awhile back but they only had them in large quantities and I passed. Looking back I should have bought some

CCI makes good caps.
IMO the best caps are the ones that fit your nipples the best.

Nothing wrong with CCI caps, never had one fail.

CCI caps are good, just not as "forgiving" on fit as Remington as to fitting with a little extra push.
