I recently bought a RIA 1911 and had problems with misfeeds where the round would jam cockeyed in the barrel not allowing the slide to contact the breechface. I fixed that problem with mccormick magazines and a new extractor but now it seems to leave the last round loose on top of the magazine with the slide locked back, Or instead leaves the last casing on top of the magazine a little mangled and has to be pryed out.

I know ria use less than adequate recoil springs, and i have found if the slide cycles too fast inertia speeds up and kicks the round out of the mag on recoil, and the push back puts it on the top of the mag. You'll hear replace the mag springs, but start with the recoil spring. On an ria i don't shoot because it jams more than it fires, the recoil spring was putting out about 5lbs after 500 rounds. 16 seems to work if you have no other problems. I used the same ria spring on some otherwise reliable guns, and found live round double feeds, same cause. Hope that helps.
