I bought a 24/7 pro 9mm several days ago and I am not happy with it:mad:. I have yet to shoot three rounds consecutivly through it. I have shot approx. 175 rounds through it. 50 rounds of blazer, 50 rounds 147gr win hollow points, and 75 rounds of wwb. It either does not feed a round into the chamber, the round doesn't feed completely in the camber, or it stove pipes the fired shell. I thought this was going to at least be reliable. Has any one ever heard of this many different problems or have any advice on what i need to do?:banghead:? thanks guys yall are great

Nater

Send it and the magazines back to Taurus unless you have another magazine to try, most autoloader problems are really magazine problems, but the ones that aren't are usually beyond home repair capabilities.

My 9mm 24/7 has been 100% out of the box with a variety of ammo.

do i need to send it back myself or have my dealer send it back??? what do you think the turn around will be??

Try a known good mag in it first. Itf thats not the problem then see if the dealer you got it from will send it back for you. One question. Did you break it down clean and lube it before you took it out to shoot it the first time?

I know a lot of guys believe in stripping/cleaning/lubing a NIB gun...but I don't see why one should have to do this. If a gun won't work properly out of the box I don't want it. My Glock 19 has functioned perfectly from day one; as have many others -- for example XDs, HKs, and even Tauruses. ;)

I has to do with how much of that shipping gunk they put in there for the trip to the States. I have had some Taurus pistols have very little grease/gunk NIB and It would not have kept it from running right from day one with out cleaning and lubeing, however I have had some Taurus that had a lot of gunk from the shipping and Im sure after it combined with the powder from 50-100 rounds it would make the action hard to work. It has less to do with the Make of the firearm and more to do with the packing gunk. Sorry for calling it gunk I just dont know what its really called haha

Yes i did clean it but there was not much to clean and I did lube it before cleaning and I am currently trying to track down a clip to try.

Man - I feel for you!
I do not like Taurus. I had bought a PT145Pro & had the same problems.
Brought it back to Sportsmans Warehouse and demanded my money back - and got it. I'll never buy another Taurus.

It pisses me off that gun dealers feel it's ok to sell a defective products and tell the customer their only option is to send a NEW gun in for service. When a new gun has chronic malfunctions - it's defective. I think the consumer should have the right to get a refund when this happens.

Mine didn't work either

I bought a 24/7 pro .40 in March. I never was able to put a full mag through it with out it failing to fire due to what I think were light strikes.I tried every type of ammo I could get locally. Taurus has had it since May 15th, and they are a PITA to reach. I was told 4- to 6 weeks turna around time, but when I called last week, I was told 2-4 more weeks.
This gun felt soooo good in hand, it's a shame it doesn't f'n work!!!
I went out and bought a new PX4 storm, it goes bang every time and is easier for me to sight/more accurate, and feels almost as good in hand.
I can say I will never buy another Taurus product. I'll just spend the extra $$ and get a pistol that I can trust.

Nice first post

When you get your Taurus back let me know and Ill give you $250 for it and you can put that toward something more expensive you can trust. I trust all 9 of my Taurus semi autos and I would not mind adding a 10th to the stable ;)

Over the last year I have bought, traded, sold and used a dozen handguns. That includes 3 Taurus pistols: 92, PT 1911, and 24/7 9mm. All Taurus handguns have performed flawlessly with around a 1000 rounds through them. The 24/7 is my daily carry gun and fires anything.

The only gun I have had that performed like the one described by Nater was a Ruger .45 auto. It would only operate semi-dependably with Winchester ammo. I took a friend's mags and tried them-cleared up all problems. Generally, it's something simple keeping a new gun from a reputable manufacturer from operating dependably.

As stated by rcellis, the model is not inherently unreliable.

Your dealer should send it back for you or you might as well be buying at gun shows. He can ship it back for maybe $7-10 bucks tops, it'll cost you $26+ as FEDEX and UPS force you to use their most expensive overnight shipping.

Every maker makes bad guns from time to time. If they tested them enough to be 100% reliable out of the box we'd all be buying used guns "new".

At this point I'd not buy another magazine unless you know you'll want a spare, as the 24/7 are a bit pricey.

I have a good friend that recently bought a 24/7 and it was not a good purchase. It would never shoot to point of aim, and Taurus's fix was to send him a different front sight. That made little difference. Groups were all over the place for any of us who tried it. He traded it off for a used Sig.

my gun is acccurate but its just like shooting a single shot...lol but i will contact my dealer and have them send it back for me with my fingers crossed hoping I will get it back in a month. I have not given up on taurus I just have the worst luck in the world If there is a lemon out there I will be the one to get it

thanks guys your a ton of help

I've got a Pt145 that has been 100% reliable and very accurate right out of the box. I had a 24/7 in 45acp that was completely reliable but too big to CCW and I had many other full size 45acp pistols so I traded it off. I now wait to get the new 24/7 OSS in 45acp as soon as they are available. I have had good luck with Taurus service as they put a set of Trijicon sights on my Pt145 at no charge when I sent it and the new sights to them in Florida. Service was prompt and they did a nice job.

Just to balance the opinions.
My 24/7 .40 cal NON-PRO has operated flawlessly since I bought it NIB (never cleaned it, lubed it and shot it) it is and shall be my carry gun and HD gun until something better finds it's way into my collection.
BTW A Sig 226 lives in my collection also...

My 24/7 PRO .40 that I got about 3 weeks ago and have put about 500 rounds through it without a problem.

Hmmm, looks like a mixed bag to me. Some work, some don't. I sure hope mine works if it ever gets back from Taurus. I called today and was left on hold for about 20min before I gave up. Like I said, I hope it works when I get it back, But I won't be buying another weapon from them.
They need my business, I don't need thiers.

you can certainly say the same about some significantly more expensive brands, like Kimber, and Para Ordnance fer instance. Kimber does not offer a lifetime warranty, not sure about Para.

I had to pay almost $60 to overnight it to them.
Look, I'm not trying to bash taurus, just relaying my experience so far. I bought the gun NIB and had problems from day one. I really liked the in hand fit of this weapon over every other .40 semi that I was able to handle, it just ain't reliable. Local gunsmith says it's a "friday" gun. I'm gonna call Taurus again tomorrow and see if I can speak to a human.:banghead:

:scrutiny:

I somehow don't think dealers test fire every firearm they receive, so it's not like the dealer wants to sell you a piece of junk.

Anyways, a friend of mine bought a little Taurus .25 auto mouse gun, and had problems with it from day one. I'm sure there's lots of happy Taurus owners out there, but that and the OP's experience aren't doing much for me in my opinion of Taurus.

Wally,
I bought it at a gun show. Dealer is from about 200miles away in Aberdeen.
Haven't even tried to contact them, though I probably should. Don.t think it will do me much good.
