Another Big 5 employee rant....

I can forgive ignorance as it can be remedied!

I can't forgive those who act as if they know something when, in fact, they don't. That ain't ignorance - that's stupidity and that's terminal. Good shooting;)

I went into a Big 5 in E Phx with my wife to look for some football gear for the youngest. I wandered over to the gun counter to look at the rifles and while waiting for some help i saw a sign over the rifles that said something like, it is unlawful to store a firearm unlocked, or something like that. When the sales clerk came over i looked at a couple of rifles and when i was done i asked what statute that they were refering to, alls i got was a blank stare and then a mumbled excuse that this wasn't their dept.:banghead: There was nothing on the sign refering to any law just a statement as what was not allowed.

Ron, not sure what the law is in AZ., but I believe it is the law in Kali. that all firearms are to locked up when in storage, so a kid can't get to it.Big5 corp. HQ is in Kali and I think they apply it equally to all their stores.

Actually, Kali law doesn't state that you have to lock up your guns.

What it does say is that if your guns aren't locked up, and a kid gets at them and shoots someone, you are criminally liable.

There's a reason these guys work at Big 5 or the gun counter at K-Mart or Wal-Mart. They don't have the skills, knowledge or aptitude to get a job at a true gun shop. That's why I don't buy from those places unless there is some insane special sale that I absolutely can't miss. My patronage is something a store has to earn, not just assume.
