Went down to my local SA today to see if the are carrying handguns yet (since Feb I keep hearing it will be soon) and they are having a Grand Reopening sale. WW box 115gr 9MM $4.50 a box and the sign says 6 box limit. So I ask the salesman how many boxes can I get and he said he could sell me a case (Winchester considers 10 boxes a case). This is at 7PM and I am thinking too bad I didn't come in early in the morning because I could come back before close catch a different salesman and buy another case:rolleyes: .

Well I went home and thought about it and said what the heck I'll go down there about 15 minutes before close and see how much they are willing to part with. After all it never hurts to ask. So I walk up to the gun counter and he asks what I need and I said some 9MM and he looks at me a little closer and says didn't you buy some before. I went with the truth I told him at these prices I would be thrilled if he could spare some more. I was surprised when he handed over another case.

So I got a 1000 rounds for $90 bucks. Boy is my Storm gonna be happy.

I picked up a new 10/22 yesterday at the Grand Opening sale of the new SA here for $100 - can't beat that... They also had the same deal on 9mm, but ad listed a 6 box limit.

I've been told that by S.A. staff since Feb. as well.
They've been telling Me it might happen sometime in the fall.
Hmmmm...

I havn't been to a SA for a couple of years since they quit selling hand guns and got rid of long guns later and just carry paint markers and pellet guns.
They caved into anti pressure down here, despite what their marketing said.

nice

i'm starting to like Sports Authority all over again. it was great when it first opened. then, their customer service really tanked and so did lots of their product. but, now i find my self going there more and more. usu. their ammo prices are close to walmart.

Wolfy - I assign my rights to six boxes to you. Tell them you're picking it up for me and I'll grab them when I fly out from Calif. ;)

Fella's;

The one that made out like a bandit, IMHO, was Rocko. A new 10/22 for a hundred is unheard of around here. Garbage beaters in alley pawn shops go for $125.00! I would have a serious case of the green-eyed monster, except that I scored this week also.

But seriously Rocko, if the S.O. doesn't approve, I'll take it off your hands.

Ah, currently no S.O. here - the secret to many gun related purchases! If there wasn't a one per limit on the 10/22's I would have walked out with more than one for sure. As it was, the ad said only 30 available, and about 10 were sold during the hour I was there, and I was there at opening.

FYI, they had hand handguns at this new store - Glocks, S&W's, Rugers, and I believe Rossis. Just average pricing, though. Amazingly, it even seemed like the folks at the gun counter had half a clue, even with the store only open less than a week.

Rocko

You guys are too lucky! I'm also in South Florida, where anything labelled "gun" is taboo.

My daughter had a first grade assignment where she had to dress up like a person she admired out of history. She chose to dress like an old west Sheriff, because her mom is a Deputy. The problem with that is students are not allowed to have anything resembling a gun... even a toy gun or squirt gun. Even as a part of a costume. So she went with empty holsters. Geez...

Back on topic, I remember getting my basic grade Winchester 94 at Sports Authority, with see-thru mounts and a 4 x 32 Bushnell scope as a package for about $225 many years ago... That was back when you could get some real deals on gun stuff there...

Seems my S.A. is also a bit anti, as I've never seen any actualy firearm related item in any of their sales adds. Closest I've seen to guns are paintball markers and pellet guns. Oh well, guess I'll stick to gun stores and Big 5, picked up 50 rounds of .38spl for $5 last time i was there. Not to mention the all-matching Turk Mauser I got for $80 all those years ago from them.

sports authorities vary. i know 2 that are in the same state and in the same county that don't have similar gun polices. one sells guns, the other does not

Wolfy,

Which S.A. is this in PRNJ? Is it all of them? Last one I looked in (Paramus) they hardly had anything - that was awhile back.
