Months ago a friend mentioned he had this pistol kit that his father-in law and not finished, before he died, and he wanted me to have it.
Recently, when he gave it to me I started cleaning it up and assessing the damage I realized the lock is the same size that is on another CVA of mine which was a flint lock. I would have more fun with a "rock lock" pistol and decided to switch locks. I had to make a vent that would replace the drum and drill and tap the rifle for the percussion drum.
Finished the pistol yesterday and fired a blank load to test the vent, it works. Now I have 3 .45s and only a hand full of balls, may have to get a .44 mold.

I did that kit last year. Deer Creek has the kit components for ~ $200.

I couldn't get my belt clip to take the bluing I did. Do you know how it was done?

Bob, my belt clip did not brown as well as the parts made with softer iron, but I figured it would soon be worn with use.
I used some 20+ year old Birchwood Casey Plum Brown and it turned out ok for only the 3rd gun I have browned
