I've been looking for my second gun and was kinda liking the XD4 was wondering what you all think of it in a 40.

Good gun. I have 3. Balance is very good and is my best center fire shooter. I carry it daily.
I'm a big Springfield fan. I have 2 other compacts and 2 tactical.

my wife jus bought herself a Beretta px4 and wants me to get one,I like the XD4 jus t nedd to make sure its good and reliable and worth the money

All my XD's have been 100 percent reliable. Even the one that I bought from a police confiscation sale for $150. She looks a little rough but goes bang every time.

DES Training in Rock Hill, SC has a few of them they use in their NRA Basic Pistol class or their Concealed Weapons class when students need to borrow a pistol. I have assited them with several classes and watched dozens of new students use them with ease and accuracy and zero malfunctions. They report having zero issues with the XDs they use in their classes. They are tough, accurate and easy to use. I wonder if we can make it past post 8 or 9 before....
