I just read on the news today that a young man, I think a teen, accidentally shot his friend to death with an autoloading handgun he had apparently stolen from a law enforcement vehicle. This was in Florida. The young man was showing his ill-gotten firearm to his friend. Reportedly he thought the gun was empty because he had removed the magazine. With the live round in the chamber he somehow fired the gun into his friend's head and killed him. So, not only did he ignore the law he ignored any use of common sense or gun safety.

Considering that he had already stolen the gun, I doubt it was an ND. More likely a coverstory for knocking someone off.

I will agree that either scenario is likely because

the story about not knowing one is in the chamber after dropping the magazine is a relatively common occurence and, of course, a cover story for murder is also a probability.

Obviously the manufacturer's fault. No magazine disconnect safety or loaded chamber indicator.

Bet it was a Glock. :) (Oh, never mind...)

Well I guess within the week we should expect legislation to be passed asking for the 4 rules to be printed on all grips right? LOL, I feel bad for the victim but then again he was hanging with a guy who just stole a gun from a cop.

Also how often are pistols not on the person of the officer, You hear about AR's or Shotguns getting stolen out of PD Vehicles but dont think I heard of a pistol before. Hmm.

..but dont think I heard of a pistol before.

AFIK, the current Seattle Police Chief (a fellow not known to support lawful gun ownership) is still waiting for his Glock to show up in some crime scene. He last saw it as he left it in a car, which was broken into.

Bart Noir
Who is not sure it was a Glock, but that doesn't matter.

And remember boys and girls

only police should have guns so that no innocent people ever get shot... oh wait... where did he get that gun again?

Darwin award anyone?

People like him give guns a bad name. Not only he broke the law by stealing the gun, he is also too stupid to handle a pistol. God knows what he would do with it if he hadn't been caught. I would feel sorry for the little old lady or man in wheelchair that might run into him on a darkened street.
