Tuesday, I had a few bucks saved. Seriously looking at M1 Carbines. I love mine and want another but they are expensive. The Gun Shop had two K31's for $287 and one absolutely ugly beater for $231. The stock looked like it had been used to row over from Swizterland. You could see copper streaks in the barrel. Some small rust blemishes on the bolt......
I had a nice stock at home that I got from E-Bay years back and refinished. A few hours of cold blue, elbow grease, barrel cleaning with Ed's Red, dremel polishing of the bolt and some TLC on the sling.......Bada bing bada boom.
I love fixing up the real sad sacks. These rifles work work so well and when you break one out on the Range......heads turn. But the real fun is fixing them up.....this is # 3 for me and maybe my favorite. I did strike out on the Tag under the buttplate on this one......unreadable. I think the saltwater dissolved the ink!
