The St. Louis County Circuit Court last week granted firearms manufacturers their long-pending motion to dismiss the city's "junk lawsuit," putting an end to another attempt to hold law-abiding companies responsible for the acts of criminals. "The attempt here is not only to blur, but obliterate, the line that separates public nuisance claims from those based on product liability law," said the court. Responding to the decision, Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF vice president and general counsel, said, "We are very pleased with the decision and call upon the City of St. Louis to embrace the path of cooperation with the firearms industry to achieve the mutual goals of reducing criminal use of firearms and accidents."

>>I believe the firearms manufacturers need to turn the tables on the predators and take them to court for legal costs.<<

I'm no lawyer, but the really smart lawyers working on this have looked into this course of action, and they tell me it doesn't work that way. I don't know why.

I just didn't want anyone to have the impression that this has been overlooked.

It would seem to me that - based on some of the remarks I have read that were attributted to the people bringing some of these lawsuits, i.e., "we'll keep doing this until we bankrupt the manufacturers", or something like that, there should be some sort of recourse against plaintiff and the law firms that represent them. Just the fact that so many of these lawsuits are being filed would seem to indicate some sort of collution among the lawyer/plaintiffs filing them. :cuss: :cuss:
