Shooting yesterday, I noticed that the person shooting next to me; left quite a bit of residue that looked pretty much like unburnt powder.
Not sure what signifies other than a load that is not burining all the powder, which couldnt be good..

not sure what caliber...but would suspect .44 since it was a lever gun. Cartridge looked bigger than a .357 but definetely not a rimmed 30-30. Too small.

I didnt get a chance to speak to him, since he didnt seem interested in talking.
 
I've seen 5744 and some of the stick powders do that. I cleaned a barrel out into a small container when shooting 5744 and attempted to light the "unburnt" stuff to no avail. I suspect it is a matter of incomplete burn rather than truly unburnt.
 
I used to shoot unique in 38 special. It left a fair amount of residue. Its why I switched over to bullseye.
