It brings me great pleasure to announce that a new handgunner was born today. In fact this is is his very first personally owned firearm. He's been a hunter for a number of years but always just borrowed a rifle from the family cache when hunting season came around.

Elation is the only word I can think of. Both for him and myself.

He expressed an interest in purchasing a handgun about 2 years ago when I used to work with the fellow. We chatted about it here and there and he had pretty much made up his mind a long time ago that he wanted a Beretta 92 series gun at that time.

Well, as luck would have it he ended up moving very close to my residence. We met up, as old co-workers often do in this industry, and I invited him to the range. Free guns, free range time -- all on me. He's hooked. We do another range trip he provides his own ammo this time, etc. This continues for a month or so every other week. He's narrowing down his choices in firearms (and help was provided by THR here) and he settled on a Taurus P92. The price was right, and he could get a .22LR kit for it fairly easily. He's sold.

I get a Nextel 2-way page last night and he says he's got the cash on hand to buy it. In instruct him (again) on how to get the pistol purchase permit in Michigan. All bases are covered. He messages me at like 11am that he's got the permit. Rock on!

6pm or so he buys the pistol at the local gunshop/range at a darned good price. Ammo, carrying case, extra mag, Hogue grips, ear plugs (already had ear muffs) etc. Rock on!

I show up about 7pm as scheduled with my pistols in tow... we hit the range, slug down some lead, have a good time while doing it. Grand fun -- he's got his -OWN- pistol now. He's elated!

After the range we go to grab a beer at a local place and upon arrival there he says, "Ya know, it's weird -- but it feels REALLY good having a gun in the trunk of my car." Welcome to the club, brother :)

He LOVES the new gun -- but the trigger feels a bit funny to him. I told him after he cleans the factory grit and grease out of it it''l be better and after 500 trigger pulls it should get even better yet.

It's been a long time coming, but we got another one guys!

Honestly, I might be grinning even bigger than he is right now -- though I know he's at home right now with his new pistol broken down and ready for it's first cleaning.

As Skunkabilly would say, "Reehaw!" :D

Good show, GigaBuist!:) I applaud your accomplishment! If every one of us did that, there'd be a lot less antis! (Yes, I have done it too, and I know it often takes paitence and time.) Sounds like he's off to a good start!
