And one with two possibly good answers in it.

Here's the text, slightly edited for clarity.

A gunman killed 32 people at Virginia Tech on Monday
How can similar tragedies be prevented?

Add technology to lockdown buildings, screen visitors, alert students, contact police
Do a better job of monitoring students' mental health
Adopt stricter gun control laws
Allow trained school staff members to carry guns
Such attacks can't be prevented

Editor's note: Instant polls are intended as entertainment. They are not considered to be true measurements of public opinion.

I didn't bother to vote, since the poll stopped short of what is really needed which would be to allow anyone to carry who wants to. Since the bad guys and the crazies don't bother to get permits why should the honest law abiding ones have to?

Had I voted, "such things can't be prevented" (or whatever the exact wording was) would have been my choice. Maybe they can't be prevented, but they can be stopped once they get going.

Too bad you can't vote for two (both of the last two are true).

Also too bad the next to last one didn't include students and visitors too.

Since the title of the poll includes the word prevent, the only answer that can be selected reasonably is "such attacks cannot be prevented. They can't. Someone who is willing to die in the course of their violent rampage is pretty much unstoppable; at least to a point. This lunatic would have killed or injured a few people before anyone could react.

That said, a few armed staff or students could have substantially limited the toll. He may have gotten 4 or 5 people before being put down, but that wold be a whole lot better than the 60 some people killed and wounded.

Any Thoughts Or Experience?

Hypothetical question. If a large Private school wanted to allow CCW by carefully screened (have to toss 'em a bone) administration members and students, would that be legally possible? Big bucks among the Pro RKBA alumnus could fund such an effort.

Some colleges and universities do have NRA Collegiate Shooting teams. Why not make CCW the goal..and reward.. of sucessfully completing a "course?"

Just a thought, but if the institution is private and the state is "friendly", wouldn't that be feasible? Just spit balling...
