The weather turned out real nice this morning so loaded up the BP box and headed out to the range. Lots of folks shooting today.
Tried out the home made Durofelt wads. They worked great. Very happy with them. Am able to fire 3 cylinders before having to wipe the arbor pin. The fouling is very soft and wipes off easily.
Had a chuckle: There was a couple shooting next to me shooting modern handguns. They had not seen the Walkers go off yet.
Finally got the Walkers loaded, stood up, and let loose with both at the same time:D. After the cylinders were empty the guy steps over to me and says "The cannon range is down that way." I laughed. Got reloaded again and called out to them, "Hey y'all?" They looked over and I said, "The BB gun range is over that way." and cut loose another volley. :D
They laughed.

Another C&B day of fun!

Great story. I love it! I'm still grinning.

Glad the durofelt wads are working. Like you, I usually get 3 cylinders fired before cleaning the arbor.

Had a similar experience. I was shooting the Uberti 1860 Army and ROA and got the attention of a father and his grown son who were using new semi-autos. I was down wind as a courtesy but the smoke and distinctive sound does get noticed. While changing targets they asked me about them so I let them try a couple of cylinder-fulls when shooting resumed. They were surprised by the feel and accuracy. They thanked me and went back to their semis with big smiles on their faces. (You just can't shoot these things without smiling.) Ran into them again a couple of months later and they both had 1860 Army's along with their modern stuff. And smiling. Two more converts to the Blessed Black.

Just moved here a couple of years ago and I finally found a range last year. So far I'm the only black powder shooter I've seen on the pistol side. I've fired my Great Plains on the rifle area on 2 or 3 occasions and have not seen a BP shooter there either. This is north-central Kentucky!!! I figured I'd see more flintlocks than Glocks! Anyhow it was beautiful here today and I had both my flintlock 50 cal pistol and 1851 navy out for a spin. There's nothing like nice weather and BP weapons.
