I think something is telling me to buy this rifle, you all know from my first should I buy I got some ammo and one box was 303 Brit.

Well the same gun shop has a Enfield that has me thinking of buying. It's a sporter no4 mk1 with the (f) I for get what that means on these. Has the mk1 rear sight with the fine adjustment, has a synthetic black stock it's unmarked it seems better made then the cheap ati stocks. Has some glass fiber in it. The original front sight stuff is gone barrel doesn't seem cut tho. A short sight ramp with a hood is on it. Think the barrel is a left hand twist.

what caught my eye was the extra sight on the mk1 sight, it had windage so after the first look weeks ago I looked up what the sight was. It has a A.J Parker 8/53 sight, has the more basic Aperture but its there. Looking quick the sight and bring good money, anyone have any experience with them.

the rifle is $275 so the sight would almost pay for the gun, be nice to return it back original but Enfield stocks are pricy and I'd have to replace the front sight.

So what you think, should I buy?

(F) designates the manufacturer (Fazakerley). I think you should get it, but just keep it and shoot it as a sporter, since trying to restore it to original configuration it wouldn't be original anyway, and probably not worth what you end up putting in it, time and materials. But at what you paid for it as-is, it should make a great shooter for that price.

Ya it will be a shooter, and one I don't have to baby or worry about Dinging up. It may have shot good being it had that sight on it, it would be nice to have windage without moving the front sight, can't use the peep when the sight ladder is laying down tho.

Buy it return it to its original glory. Shoot the snot out of it. Enjoy for 30 years or so. And sell for $1500+. Or hand it down to the next generation. What ever you do buy it and post pics.

Sucks the stocks are So much, maybe I can find one that needs fixing up. All the band's and sight stuff may add up. I'll price some stuff out one day.

You should buy it ….with the caveat that finding wood won’t be easy or cheap, and provided the barrel hasn’t been chopped nor front sight messed with. Because the wood alone will be project enough, and as a sporter rescue it’ll never have the value of a matching original anyway. I’d probably keep the sight because it will make the gun better. Alternatively I’d keep the sight and sell the gun for about what I paid, and then find a complete original that I might want to put a target sight on.

Id have to refit a new front sight, I don't think the barrel was cut tho. I sold my very nice long branch last year, to fund a pre 64 model 70. I kinda regret selling but I didn't shoot the gun much and I got a model 70 Winchester from it.
