A show just popped up on Netflix from South Korea about the war. It is kind of a "Band of Brothers" and "Saving General Ryan" all rolled into one. The show is loaded with WWII era munitions and the show so far has been nothing but shootin and running for your life- Can't say much about any broader historical accuracy to the show.. but there has to be something to the show as to how the South Koreans saw things then.. or now.. cultural curiosity

Sorry if this might violate the rules about TV on here but I'm getting quite a kick out of the small arms- :)

Also kinda wondering if the M1s in this show are the ones that should be in our gun stores?.. :p:

Hmm.. cant post a link.. maybe thats a hint... but the show is called "Legend of the Patriots"
 
Weird coincidence - I just came across it yesterday too but moved on assuming it to have subtitles. Does it?

I liked the blurb below it basically saying "you guys may call it "the forgotten war" but for us... Not so much".
 
Thanks - maybe we'll give it a go. I'm not opposed to subtitles other than if there are so many and shown consistently over a non-contrasting background that I end up missing the story.
 
Sometimes it can be confusing because the yellow english overlays white korean (ha, thats kinda funny) anyway.. most times it is easy and short.. very little drama (unlike titanic or the newer pearl harbor movie) think tora tora tora
 
Just watched two episodes last night, pretty good.
Caught a glimpse of a Mosin Nagant with a turndown bolt, no scope.
 
Another good Korean film is "My Way" which follows two "friends" as they fight in the japanese/chinese war, then get taken prisoners by russians and fight in russia, then get captured by the germans and sent to normandy. Lots of awesome action scenes. I will definetely check out this series then.

Edit: Oops sorry didn't realize we were talking about Korean War, still is applicable tho
 
So just started episode 4 and the english subtitles are missing.. Hoping I'm just missing something now that I'm hooked :)

Any info?
 
Really enjoyable so far... even without the benefit of subtitles or dubbing.
There was a scene in Episode 2 in which some S. Korean troops were dug into the side of a hill, and waited - twice - for what seemed like a tactically unsound amount of time before opening fire on a large mass of advancing N. Korean troops. It also seemed like they missed an opportunity for a designated marksman to take out any obvious leadership targets...
