I read an interesting post by Apache Co.Todd about his 66B “Buckhorn” .Iwanted to contribute as it was fairly recent as far as posts are concerned ( 2020) for reason unfigurable by me in my ignorance it was “ no further reply’s allowed” which I have seen more often on our own High Road way more often than other forums(?!) OH,not arguing the wisdom of this action just commenting on its unwise es! I have been guilty of answering some old old posts,my bad! However I have answered some old ones and continued a interesting topic with original posters who were glad to rejoin it AND OP AND I gained some new knowledge and fresh insight on an old topic.Oh WELL!
Anyway back my original interest My Stevens 66 b which I obtained years ago from a friend of my wife’s who had it in her attic. It was her fathers ,who bought it in the 50s when she had been threatened as a child by an adult neighbor creep over ,I think ,a dog.she was about 6 yrs at the time..So this was an honorable defense weapon though not the best one and never used for that purpose luckily as he was not a particularly gun knowledgeable man,Proof being the small jewelry box of ammo he had for it contained mixed ammo including several rds of .22 auto for early Winchester semi autos and would have no doubt jammed things up if loaded in the Buckhorn.
I offered to service the rifle and give her instruction in it’s safe operation and use,but she just wanted it out and for free,so I got it and it’s a great rifle with some history and antique es to it!
