I've decided I want a nicer, higher end ak, somewhere in the $500 range, but I can probably manage about $900-$1k if I have to. Originally I was dead set on a Sam 7 (the one with the green furny and scope rail), but recently I went to the Krebbs site and saw their ak 103 carbine, and it looks sweet! So I now I can't decide an am having to turn it over to you guys.
Oh yeah a few things I want in this ak:
- I would prefer a carbine with a muzzle brake.
- It must be in 762x39.
- I would prefer a milled receiver, but will go with a stamped if I have too.
- It must look cool - I want this to be my tactical looking ak (I'll get a classic later), but I still want it to retain that basic ak look. I don't want some bull up ak or anything.
- I'm really not too crazy about the way the Vepr looks, or the Saiga. However I've seen some custom Saigas and those are certainly nice.
- I know this sounds a little crazy but I really don't like aks with longer or normal barrels and a massive muzzle break at the end. It just looks odd to me. (Hence the reason I like the Krebbs ak 103 carbine and not their ak 103). This was one problem I had with the Sam 7, but the Sam 7 carbine didn't have a scope rail, so I just kinda turned the blind eye.

So there you have it, if I think of anything else, I'll try and let y'all know.

Oh yeah, one more thing, if y'all want to hijack this thread and show pics of your aks feel free.

Concerning the Krebs and your criteria...

Sounds like you've got a winner! :)

And since you asked...

Please do not laugh at the bipod... it's off until I get a ROMAK-3 or something worthy of one...

Oooh nice!

I really like that ak you got there Dionysusigma! Good black and white picture. Personally, I think the bipod adds to the flavor. :)

Yes, your right about that Krebs, the only thing is the price is abit higher, but I would rather pay a little more and get something I want then pay less and end up with something I don't like as much. Plus, the money I saved would probably end up being used to try to customize the rifle to what the Krebs already make so, your right.
