My birthday is coming up and I wish to add a Glock to my safe. There are several models I am very interested in and they all fit me very well. What would fellow THR members suggest based on your experince?

The caliber has been limited to 9mm as that is what I can afford to shoot alot of. This Glock would serve as a night stand and range gun.

for night stand and range, I'd go full size, and either 34 or 17L. Since money seems to be an issue, the G34 tends to be cheaper than the rare 17L, so my vote goes for the 34.

I'm rather partial to the G19... It's a good all-around gun, being large enough to still shoot well, but small enough to carry concealed, if the need arises.

The G17 is a good duty gun, but works best from a typical duty belt-type holster.

The 17L and 34 are pretty much just target guns, with fairly limited usefulness.

Just my opinion, mind you... others will most certainly disagree. ;)

The G19 is a good all around gun with good ergonomics and controllability and concealability.
Can't go wrong.

The G34 is a neat gun with better ergo's, but not as concealable.
The G34 is more fun.

I voted G34
but if you are going to carry, then G19

I love my G19. It shoots to point-of-aim, has no recoil, even with +p+ ammo, and is easy to shoot well.
It has never jammed, and it is easy to conceal.
I bought it used so I wouldn't worry about getting nicks and scratches on it. It has the ergonomics of a brick, but other than that, it is just about perfect.

I voted for the G19 because its a great all around pistol. However if money is tight the Kiesler's wholesale ad in the May 1 issue of The Shotgun News has police trade in G17s for $330 w/ night sights and a pair of 17 round mags. If your dealer does transfers its a very good price. They don't have a website, but their phone number is 888-543-7537. A G17 w/ night sights says home defense pistol all over it.

There are only 2 9mm Glocks that interest me, the 26 and the 19.

I like the 26 because I'm a fan of small concealable handguns in service calibers. The 26 is basically the gun that started the current trend in pocketable service caliber autos.

I like the 19 because, again I like CCW type guns. It is a smallish CCWable gun with service pistol capacity. It is easy to conceal AND also a good range gun. That is definately a good combination.

I'm not interested in the full-sized Glocks. I guess I just strongly prefer other guns when getting to full-size, full-capacity, 9mms and full-sized .40s and .45s.

I have a few glocks and about eight months ago my father and i traded .I had a sig p229 two tone in .40 and he said that he liked it alot and honestly i was no impressed with how accurate it was.So i told him i would sell it to him for 500(after paying 800 i am so nice) or i would trade him for a glock. I had already owned a glock 22 and i had my eye out for the glock 19.So a couple weeks later i went to his house and there was the GLOCK 19.It was beautiful .The Glock 19 is awsome and has so many features and accessories for it it is rediculous.Good luck and happy birthday just thought you might want to hear what i sacrificed for mine.
