The ban is supposed to set on Monday... does that mean we can go out and buy evil black rifles on Monday, or do we have to wait for Tuesday?

My friend is absolutely chomping at the bit to get something formerly illegal.

It expires 10 years after it was enacted, which was 9/13/94. So, it expires as soon as Sunday turns into Monday, EST.

Ok, now I feel cheated. The guys in the easter time zone get their freedom a whole hour before I do here in Texas.

I'm not sure. The law says this:
SEC. 110105. EFFECTIVE DATE.
This subtitle and the amendments made by this subtitle--
(1) shall take effect on the date of the enactment of this
Act; and
(2) are repealed effective as of the date that is 10 years
after that date.

But what do "on" and "as of" mean in legalese?

And tangentally, are any gun shops staying open `til midnight like Lord of the Rings movie theaters or Harry Potter bookstores? :D
 
The law will expire at one second after midnight (eastern time) on Sunday. That means 11:01 pm central time, 10:01 mountain time and 9:01 pacific time.
 
I wonder if there are any all night gun shops in this area. I want to pick up an ex ban mag for my XD. Wait do they make those. Guess I'll go check out Springfields site.
 
That reminds me, can I put a bayonet on my XD-40? I have a rail for hanging a lite or a laser. Think of the sheeple I could scare with that. We now have an opportunity scare all the anti gunners gack into their homes where they belong and not let them out again.
