Today's main news story was the news that at the Big Day Out Australia Day concert in NSW the organisers intend to ban and confiscate Aussie flags in light of recent ethnic violence.
They describe our National Flag as "gang colours" and deem its display as inflamatory:barf: If the sight of our Flag offends you so much-get the !@#$%^& out of the country and take Sheik Hilali with you.
Anyway the PM was understandably miffed at this news he said that an object such as the flag was not capable of inciting violence as it was inanimate<-words to that effect, I don't have the exact quote. I hope tho that I am able to remind him of these words one day in a debate on firearms.

The organisers have backpedalled and now say that they meant that big flags will obstruct the view of others and may be a safety hazard.
So many things wrong with this story in so many ways.:banghead:

I've got a much better idea for the organisers of this concert.

There's an Australian flag right here, come and get it if you want it :neener:

Yes folks, that strange clicking sound is the sound of charger clips being rammed into a .303!

Ain't defending self, is defending the colours. something I swore to do......a bloody long time ago!

Very true- I was just illustrating another of our sane gun laws.
My blood has been boiling all day after hearing this- how can they ban the National Flag on the National Day at a National Event?
Enough to give Bruce Ruxton a stroke!!

Dont worry aussies we have the same problem here. A business in NYC is being fined for flying the U.S flag without a permit. Since when do you need a permit to fly the U.S flag in the U.S  ? During the red herring event that was the illegal immigration debate this last spring many public schools banned wearing or displaying any clothing or items that had the flag or resembled it in any way. There reason they gave is that it was offensive to the children of illegal immigrants. I second the poster who says if the sight of out national flag offends you so get the hell out of my country :fire: .
