US Rep Peter King (R) NY will introduce a gun safety bill that will outlaw the carrying of a gun within 1,000 feet of some federal officials. King is chair of the Homeland Security Committee and he could do us a lot of damage.

King said his bill would make it illegal to knowingly carry a gun within a thousand feet of “certain high-profile” government officials.

King, a Long Island Republican, chairs the House Homeland Security Committee. His announcement comes after the mass shooting in Arizona on Saturday that killed six people and wounded 14 others, including Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

This is the stuff I don't get...what does a new law accomplish..killing people is already illegal...crazies don't care what the law is..they do what they want.. now your just moving law abiding people farther away from the fight

Yeah, like it being illegal would have stopped the guy going to commit murder.

Not to mention, how in h**l would they enforce it? Sanatize parade routes in advance?

And how do we know we are with in 1000 feet of royalty?

King is proof that all R's are not good just like all D's are not bad as far as the 2nd Amendment goes.

This sounds like so many other bills that are proposed in congress. Great thoughts in principal, but it lacks practicality and the most obvious flaw...laws don't apply to criminals. That is why they are criminals.
