I have a line on a Antique Marlin 38-55 Lever action Rifle. Long round barrel, full length magazine, original stock and butt plate. In very good shape for age.

Any guesses of fair value ?

I bet it's an 1893. The Marlin 1894s were in the same calibers as Winchester 1892s - .44-40, .38-40, etc.

I have an 1893 in .38-55. With moderate loads and hard cast bullets, it's a tack driver. I gave $25 for mine, but that was in 1961 and I stole it even then.

Gunbroker has a few from $875 to $1500, but no one is bidding.

I have an 1893 in .32-40. It is one of the blackpowder only models. It is built like the one describe. I had a dealer at a gun show offer $800 for it a couple years ago, but I didn't want to sell it. A .38-55 would be more desirable, especially if it is the smokeless powder version.
