Anual Easter Egg Hunt

I started this years ago on another forum. Thought I'd try it here.

OK folks it's that time again. Easter. So what are we going to use this year. Last year I did my Easter Egg hunting from a tree stand. Didn't have a lot of luck. Only spotted a couple from up there and shot them with my Mosin Nagant from 75 yds. Unfortunately the "meat" of the colored little criiters was destroyed by the 220 grain hollow points.

This year I intend to stalk the prey. I'll probably go with the 9mm since most of the shots will be at close range if I don't scare the little critters into rolling off while trying to sneak up on them.

Well, what's every one elses strategy for the "Annual Easter Egg Hunt"?

I prefer using a night vision scope and catch the little suckers while they are seeking their hiding spots. It takes an extra stamp on the hunting license to use a night vision scope, but I believe it is well worth the extra cost.

My husband and I were talking about that this morning.

I suggested a lowly BB gun, so as not to spoil the meat.

Husband laughed at that, but his suggestion was even less lethal -- a paintball gun, which would enhance the natural coloration of the beasties.

I won't be going Easter egg hunting this year: I can't afford a .50 caliber BMG.

I'm using my Ruger Bisley in .45 Colt loaded with 300 gr hard cast bullets and LOTS of H110. That's my choice loads for heavy bodied critters that might CHARGE me! Easter eggs ARE armoured you know!!

I'm fixin to use a plastic suction dart gun W/ a string on the dart so I can reel 'em in without leaving my spot...

I too opted for the extra "night vision stamp" on my license, so I can start season early!

You gotta watch out tho - if you get 'em cornered, they tend to go straight to your midsection...
