I'm really likeing the idea of getting a 610 or 25/625 at some point so I can use moonclips with my IPSC or IDPA revolver shooting matches. 5

There's lots of reports and videos of how slick the 25/626 loads with the short stubby round nosed .45ACP cartridges in the moonclips but I don't find that there's that much about the 610 for how easy the clips of ammo drop into place. So any information you have on your guns or how you like it for shooting in competition would be appreciated.

And any drool pictures of your 610's would not be out of place either... :D

Thanks Sam. I somehow missed them or they are older and before my time. Mostly I guess I just missed them somehow since most of them are quite recent.

I also found a series of videos on YouTube of a 610 owner that had his own personal camera guy at the 2010 Milan shoot. His rapid reloads pretty much sells the 610 as a great option for me. This link to one vid will bring up a bunch of others.

I have a friend who I occasionally shoot with (near at least ... ceratinly not "against" as there is NO competition ) who shoots a 646 at speeds that make some well known folks at least glance his way, and I have personally watched Jerry Miculek run his 625 at speeds that defied the eye, so I can say the concept is worthy of more attention than it gets from S&W and most of the buying public. (But no one's yet asked my opinion on it, which is usually what's wrong with the world in general... :D)

I really wanted a 610 and ended up with two of them...a 4inch 610-3 and a 6inch 610. I love them both. I will say that getting the moon clips in the 610s is not as easy as dropping a moon clip into my S&W325pd. That said, I may have shakey moon clips...there is a lot of play in them.

The 610 shoots better for me than the 610-3...but that maybe because the 610-3 was FILTHY when I got it and the cylinder was loose (which I have now fixed).

This target was 12 shots from the 610 at 7 meters (single action)

Of course, the 325pd shoots very well. This is 6 shots double action at 7 yards.

The 610 is my favorite pin gun. 180 gr. Montana Gold flatpoints @ 1350 out of the 6 1/2" barrel. Moon clips are much faster than speed loaders. Need that advantage because at my local club revolvers compete against autos and the autos get to load 8 in the mag. The accuracy, fast reload and the quick follow-up of the 610 makes up for the autos capacity advantage.
