Texas... finally
So, I've recently posted on the S&W 681. It seems like a really nice gun but it doesn't seem to be meeting my cost to value ratio (it's a personal thing) so I've kind of put that gun on the back burner. I did recently come across a Colt Anaconda which has piqued my interest. The one I handled is a stainless, 6 inch .44.

Seems like a cool gun. I don't see them mentioned all that much and am wondering if anyone on here has one and what they think of it.

As always, thank you for any help.

Pictures are STRONGLY encouraged...

I've owned one for a couple of years, and mine is a fine revolver. It's beefier than my Model 629. It has an excellent trigger, and the grip conformation is very comfortable. I put a set of Hogue's on it, replacing the standard Pachs, They fit my hand a bit better, but that's the only change I've made.

I big snake was designed by the same man that worked with dan Wesson to design there revolvers. He was not restricted there and designed his best revolvers. The anaconda is the best of colts revolver line as far as strength and durability go . Keep an eye out for a DW revolver during the monsoon mass years. There are no restrictions to grip design and barrel length . Prices tend to be better gun for gun and parts and up grades are available from CZ and EWKarms and LBCustom grips.

To late but this is the kind of deal that can still be found- http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/411547593

Yes sir! I have a 6" Anaconda, caliber .45 Colt
It's a fine shooter w/ a very good trigger. I'll try to post pics tonight.
Colt has discontinued more good guns! I guess that will show Ruger and S&W a thing or 2? ;)

As to a used 681 S&W. Unless you really (I mean really, really) overpay, the value is still there. Buy it, shoot it, keep it clean. It's still worth what you paid. In 2 years it's worth more. Buy a computer or car or truck. What's it worth in a month? Phfffffffft! That's what it's worth.

I have a 4 inch Anaconda and I'm a Colt guy so there just isn't ANY other 44 magnum I'd rather own. There are some nice ones out there, but none even close to my Colt. Superb finish, smooth action, and BRUTE strong.

Well, it looks like I've secured an Anaconda.

I kind of can't believe how it happened. She's a little rough around the edges but should clean up nicely. No box or papers. I think I did pretty darn well, considering where I am in the north east. I will hopefully be taking possession at the beginning of December. I'll get the gal all cleaned up and snap a few pics of her for everyone's pleasure.

Any odd quirks with these guns? She's a shooter although it was only factory and not a lot. So at least I know that the gun works. Anything I should know about these guns that I haven't been told yet?

Thanks.

I've shot a few Anaconda's and they are a very accurate revolver, but people sure are proud of 'em and Pythons.

Bought my anaconda LNIB last spring and have shot it alot, no issues with it and is very accurate.

It was alot of money but you don't see them here in Nebraska that often, glad I bought it .

Enjoy it don't just let it sit in the safe.

6" 45 Colt

Like mine and shoot it mainly with ammo safe in a single action. It likes .454 diameter bullets and is comfortable to fire with Ruger loads also. A more common 44 magnum is probably easier to get great accuracy from the start. And with all 44 magnums, they are just plain sweet to shoot with 44 special loads. It appears too many times one observes 44 magnums staying home as their owners have not discovered the pleasure of 44 specials. If I bought it, I would be off to the range with 240-255 lead bullets in the 7-950 range.

I have an 8" in 44 mag I bought 10 years ago and its worth twice what I paid for it plusi got the pleasure of shooting it in the mean time. Awesome gun!

I am currently working on getting set up to load .44 asap. Really looking forward to it. Seems like a fun, versatile cartridge that is pretty stinking accurate.

I won't even tell y'all what I paid for the Colt. To say I did well would be quite the understatement. I'm thrilled but then again so is the seller as he doesn't have to go thru the hassle of transferring the gun to New York with the new rules in place. So, it worked for everyone.

Please keep any suggestions, stories, and pictures coming.
