Any Concerns Over Painting Gun?

Getting ready to play with Durablue on some old barrels and a scratched Marlin 60. Painting with the right paint after parkerizing is a very durable finish for a working firearm.

I painted a VZ24 I converted to 7mmRM with Krylon and it peeled in a season.

I have done 4 rifles with Aluma-hyde II
http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-t...re-aerosol-paints/aluma-hyde-ii-prod1117.aspx

The instructions say to clean with brake cleaner and paint in 70 degrees or warmer.
I waited 9 months for it to get that warm in Seattle.

Brownells told me to get it even warmer.

So I went to the used store and got an old heating plate.
I built a paint box from sticks and cardboard.
I made a baffle of cardboard on the bottom so paint cannot drip on the hot plate.
I put a thermometer in the top.
It still was not hot enough.
So I put a blanket around it, and it got hot.

I painted 4 rifles:
VZ24 7mmRM Lothar walther CM barrel, High Tech Specialties stock
Comm Mauser 260 Shilen Stainless barrel, High Tech Specialties stock
Rem700, 7mmRM, Shilen Stainless barrel, High Tech Specialties stock
Sav110 .223, Lothar Walther CM barrel, Boyd's pro varmint stock

I am happy with the process and the low cost of the paint.
I have been killing big game with the 7mmRM rifles, but only prairie dogs with the 223.
