Does anyone have a dedicated gun room? I plan to build one and I would love to see pictures of your gun room, or just hash out some ideas.

I'll be enclosing an area in a conditioned shop. I'm thinking 9'X12' would be enough, but could do up to 12'X12' if I get creative about arranging the other rooms fixtures / shelves. I want to leave space for future reloading, secured storage, cleaning, and display. I'm finishing a large cabinet for that purpose, it's a hutch made from rough sawn pine. I'm thinking a rustic pine / hunting cabin theme or a military supply / bunker theme. (I have some WW2 helmets, money, accessories - so I'm leaning toward a military theme.)

Would love to see some pictures. (I have googled it, but I'm not finding what I have in mind)

Mine will be much smaller in my current abode. I'm clearing out a closet for the purpose of storing some guns/ammo/backpacking/gear/manstuff.

It's small, only about 3'x3'. I'd love to see some existing ones as well, as my next house will have a dedicated gun room built in.

Here's a pic before clearing out and reinforcing...

I would love a gun/man room! I looked at a house that has a tunnel from the basement to a room under the distant garage -- Oh man it has everything.... and the price tag to prove it. :banghead:
Well someday a small room above ground I guess. :D

I just picked up a 8'X20' one way cargo container which will eventually end up as my reloading paradise..............

We have a gun room. It happens to be the biggest room in the house.

Sorry, no photos, no lists of guns, etc.

But, it is very nice to be able to have a complete room with its own heating, cooling and dehumidifer, along with my maintenance equipment in one room.

Unfortunately, there isn't enough room for my workbench or reloading equipment. That is in the garage and it is a PIA. There is always something in the house I need when working on gun or in the garage I need when I'm cleaning them or reloading. And, at night during the summer I have to take a flashlight to keep an eye out for rattlers.

I'm planning on setting one up when I close the deal on a house at the new base. Here's a thought that occurred to me: Either make it a room that has not windows, or be prepared to invest in some respectable blinds. Guns attract thieves. But yeah, all the casing and stacking is a PITA. It will be MUCH nicer having ample space to establish a rack for everything to have its own home.

I have a gun room with all 150+ firearms displayed, tagged and recorded. My very own museum that also has a TV and a 2008 R-Guns calendar.:)

Okay... I really cant find anything on the internet, so maybe when I'm done I'll need to post the pictures....

my concept is a rustic room (See below picture). This was from a furniture makers web site, but you get the idea. THe hutch I made is bigger and is a 3 piece step back, but this kind of room I'm thinking.

Yes - mancave / gun room. I have some beer steins that might just get displayed there too.

I now live in a house that has a "maid's quarters" (according to the architect's floor plan). It's about 8 by 12, large enough for the gun safe, reloading bench and a metal office-type "supply cabinet". A small closet is now shelved, and houses ammunition and brass.

The room has two doors, now secured by in-the-knob locks and deadbolts. I'm thinking of installing a hardwood security beam across the door leading to the bathroom, or (preferably) moving the safe in front of it; both doors are hinged to open into the room, and the room is air conditioned, as is the rest of the house.

Sorry, no photos, but you get the idea.

Try a search in titles using "room" as the key word.

If you have the option of making it bigger, do so. These rooms have a knack for filling up fast.

I have a finished basement room that is 10X30. Loading setup at one end, cleaning and maintenance bench at other end, safes and shelving in between, some enclosed storage, some open shelving. Usually it is ok if I keep it in order. I need more lighting over the maintenance area. Probably will expand into more of the basement later. I do have my powder magazine in a separate room, just for ease of access. Ammunition is also in a separate room, usually kept in neat order.

Ok I think you're after the effect I wanted. at first I was going with barnsiding but that fell threw so I went with T111 siding, it gives a rough finish like rough-sawn board. I put a clear poly finish to keep it clean. I took some pics and if I can find my USB cord I'll post them.

Yup. It began as a reloading room, and I eventually got most all the gun stuff in there as well, other than what stays in the masterbedroom.

Huntsman, yeah.... along those lines for the room. I do like the bright clean garage set up above, but the rustic / mancave room is more my speed....

Keep the pictures coming. THanks

esheato, you might consider some sort of a flam cabinet for your powder and primers.

I hope to have a setup similar to yours someday, and while a flam cabinet is not a guarantee, it does buy you some time if the unfortunate should happen. (I sure hope is doesnt, thats a nice setup, im kinda jealous)

As far as the rooms go, I just got the green light from my wife to turn our 3rd bedroom into a hobby room. She likes it, cuz she can close the door, and my hope is to get it organized enough that I can relaod, and mess with the guns, or, with that put away, she can work on her cards and scrapbooks.

May I suggest looking in the reloading forums.
The pictures of some of the setups are very impressive.

My reloading room is where i can be found when home.
