Hey all - the search feature balked at "m&p", so thought I'd just ask.

As I wear a shirt and tie/dress pants to work, I've been relying on a 5-shot .38 in an ankle rig for work carry. Needless to say I've never felt over-armed with this setup, nor is it fantastically accessible. After lots of reading about Smartcarry, I'd like to think that SCing an M&Pc might be a great way to have a lot more firepower in deep concealment.

I'd really rather have something more than 9mm, and I am having an affair with .357 SIG and would usually rather that than .40 in the same sized gun. However, I'm also quite aware that .357 SIG will be a bit more of a handfun in a compact gun than my 226, and only hits count.

Anybody have experience with an M&P357c? How's the controllability/follow-ups? Any comparisons?

Many thanks.

I have an M&Pc 357 sig that I use as my EDC. I dont know what you have shot before but I personally have no problem shooting this gun. It's loud and has some recoil but I love this gun. It is utterly relable and eats everything I feed it. I had my local smithy tune the trigger and it is extremely accurate. I shot a 50 round box of Speer GDHP 125 grain all inside a 5 inch circle at 25 feet Wednesday. Some rapid fire, most rthym fire. Get it, you will not regret it.

have m@p c in 40 sw.ok for me .357 sig .might give it a run if ammo ever gets back.in stores.

No experience with the M&P in .357 Sig but I was concerned when I got a Glock 33 that the round would be too much in a small package but it's really not bad at all. Less (or different, anyway) recoil in the same package than a .40 S&W (which I feel is punishing in terms of recoil impulse in many guns).

I have a M&P in 357 Sig but in full size not compact. So far it seems like a good gun. I really like the ergonomics of this pistol. It seems to be an excellent shooter. My only real dislike is the trigger pull is not very good.

Controllability/follow ups is isn't quite 9mm but I seem to do better on the 357 Sig than the 40s I've owned.

I purchased a M&P .357 compact at a gun show two months ago. The dealer I bought it from explained to me that it was a T&E gun direct from the S&W factory. I have since learned it is one of the guns they lent out to a police department for evaluation. Even though it's straight from the factory, the dealer had to sell it as used. I traded straight up with a Springfield Armory XD, and couldn't be happier! I love the gun. I've shot probably 300 rounds through it w/o a problem. I also own a full size M&P .40, and they are both awesome guns. The .357 isn't anywhere near as punishing (recoil-wise) as I was fearing. If you can find one, I would definately recommend snatching it up quick. I had a really tough time finding one, being told that they weren't yet being made, that a particular dealer couldn't find one, yada yada.... As soon as I saw this one, I had to have it. The .357 is my favorite round, and the M&P is my favorite handgun. Two thumbs up!

;)
