I have about 15lbs of Hodgdon H870 rifle powder. This has been discontinued for a few years now. This is one of the slowest burning gunpowders out there. I read somewhere that it was originally used for 20mm rounds in the Vulcan minigun. It seems to work best in "Overbore" cartridges like the 264 Winmag, 7mm Remmag, 7mm Weatherbymag, 7mm RUM, 6.5-.300 Weatherby mag, and .300 RUM. I'm getting ready to load up a batch of .300 RUM with some Hornady 208gr ELD match bullets. This is a fairly new bullet from Hornady and I can't find any loading information for it especially with the now discontinued H870 smokeless powder. Anyone have any suggestions for a good load?

Like you, I have H870, T870 and AA8700 leftover.
Obsolete for so long, it's hard to find load data.
So I only use obsolete powder for my older cartridges.
I don't want to leave obsolet powder on the shelf,
so it's still perfectly good for 643 Win, 300 WM, etc.
If I have a new cartridge (6.5 Creedmore, for instance)
I use newer powder so I can use the latest data.
