No one but Federal knows the powder used in their ammo, it can even be a mixture. It may be a proprietary powder that's not available to reloaders.

You'll need to use data and powder that is available to you, and not try to guess what's in the factory ammo.

There are several commercial powders that work well in the 45 ACP.

This topic has been covered ad nauseum; short story is that no, noone but the company could tell you. It's probably not a powder for which you could find data or buy commercially.

Throw the powder away and reload the brass using your powder and bulllets with published load data. easy-peasy.

For me and my chronograph... I can get the same FPS average using 4.6gr of 231 (this is subjective to my variables and evironment....so don't take it as fact or science) This posts adds to NCSmitty posts with using powder available to you... I am not saying 231 is used in AE.

However, I load at 4.3. I want less recoil than what factory gives me...

The factory does not use canister powders. They may use a bulk "equivalent" powder sometimes, but they do not use canister grade powders.

Get some W-231 and follow a manual.
