They are not, but Impact is really good at the online sales thing. And they put up the information to take preorders before anybody else. (like a year ago).

I can get FN or DSA. Though the first of the new FNs will ship in the order that they were ordered.

What DSA? is DSA making them also?

And further, do you know why Impact is advertising the AUG? I cant even find any Steyr info on it.

I may not be able to help myself from grabbing a PS90. Then I'll turn around and SBR it on a Form 1. Sigh. THEN I'll need a suppressor for it.

how long is the barrel on the ps90 anyways? it looks like everything sticking out of the receiver is flash suppressor.

why would they go with that caliber in a rifle? i mean, I can understand the advantage of the Five seveN in a pistol, but in a rifle? i don't get it. if you wanted a pistol caliber carbine, what advantage does 5.7 have over 9mm or 45acp?

btw, the guy i just ordered my 223 can from (dave fisher) says he's going to be making 5.7 cans soon.

My Saiga does about 2.8moa if I take my time, but its a Sturmgewehr, not an assualt rifle.
I'm confused. A Sturmgewehr is an assault rifle, that is where the name came from. What is the difference between them in your opinion?

This is my favorite part:

"Note- Price subject to change at invoice."

Also:

"Steyr AUG Stock Assembly to convert to M-16 Mags $379.99 [Add to Cart]"

yeah, price subject to change. I think they figure that after you put up $2K on a rifle that will never exist, you will just get frustrated and tell them to send you a rifle that they have in stock, so atleast you get a new gun. No, thankyou, I have enough AR-15's.....

True, somebody earlier on mentioned DSA. I was just pointing out that anybody can order DSA. Beren, you want that PS90? Shoot me an e-mail. I've got to order some of those anyway.

I've shot several AUG's, both full-auto and semi-auto, and I'm not real impressed. The trigger is ghastly, the line-of-sight is way too high above line-of-bore, and whilst the ergonomics are not bad, there are better alternatives. Even if one were available for a few hundred bucks, as opposed to the stratospheric price that seems to be the norm, I'd pass on one.

I guess this would explain why the contractors in Baghdad who could
pick just about any rifle off the shelf they want will pick an M4 over an
AUG.....

the decision is probably just a more practical one... it's easier to get parts, armorers etc if you are shooting what everyone else around you is shooting

I believe the original concept over a sturmgewehr didnt specifically state FA, but I could be wrong. I've called Semi automatic "Assualt" pattern rifles Sturmgewehrs mostly to keep the two seperated and try and garner a difference between an assualt rifle, and what civilians own. Its primarily a term I use whilst debating with antis..

Not scientific I know.

As far as I can tell (and I have been researching this for a while), Steyr will announce the semi-auto version of the AUG A3 at this upcoming S.H.O.T. show. However, when they will actually produce them remains to be seen, as the rifle must be produced here in the states. It is specifically banned from import. However, to all the non-believers, the new United States branch, Steyr Arms, Inc, is almost through start-up phase. Their website can be found here. Click on "Weapons for Law Enforcement". Directly quoted from the page: "The AUG A3 will not be available in the U.S.A. until at least Spring 2006." So, it's clear that the future plans include an AUG for the states. When this may actually see store shelves is a different matter.

Edited to add:
Some may say this only applies to LEO customers, however, the AUG A3 has been available to LEOs and military in this country for a few years now...

well, James thank you. as for the peanut gallery, The rumor I was trying to verify WAS the spring '06 one. I will believe it when I have one in my greasy hands.
