Any interest in ammo by the round for collecting?

I've been out of work for six months now, and the local job market is worse than ever. I've had time to get some projects done around the house.

I have a 20mm ammo can full of quite a variety of ammo that I've accumulated over the course of the last quarter century. There's a little bit of everything in there, some semi-rare but mostly fairly common stuff, some of it good for shooting and some rather corroded or tarnished, some modern and some well over 100 years old.

My thought, and I don't know if it's worth messing with, is that a lot of people seem interested in having a collection or a display of ammo. I thought I could sell some of it by the round, perhaps even inert some rounds so shipping would be cheaper. It wouldn't be real cheap just because of the time involved, but if a person wants a basic display of 20 different calibers it would be an easy way to do it.

Any interest? If so, what would be a fair price for this sort of thing?

I'll go through, pick out a few and make a list.
Any suggestions on calibers? Pick and choose not a problem.
Live or inert?
Live rounds have to go UPS ground (more expensive).
What's a fair price for this sort of thing? If I inert them I'd have to charge more because of the time.

Heck, it may not be worth the trouble, but if someone wants a few pieces send me a list and I'll see what I can do.

Be aware of government shipping regs and costs on live ammo.

You can't just drop it in the mail box.

What do you have? I am somewhat of a novice collector. I am mostly interested in obsolete centerfire cartridges and larger caliber rimfires. My modest collection is made up of weird cartridges that I have come across over the last 30 years. If I find something strange at a gun show and can pick it up for a buck or two, it goes in the collection.
For example, I found a .401 Winchester and a .44 Colt pistol round a while back.

I would not bother inerting any (unless you get a specific request to do so) because it is time-consuming and usually destroys any collector value. Price would really depend on the scarcity of the round, and its retail price if it is currently manufactured. You probably shouldn't bother with 9mm, 45ACP, 40S&W, 30-06, etc unless you have an old or unusual headstamp, but honestly if you have the time you might as well make up a fairly complete list.

Make or have some one make up some sort of wall mount/shadow box. Give it themes like "The Calibers Of The Ol' West" and put some sort of sheriffs star. Or "Calibers Of WWII".......you get the drift.

I would think that boards showing all the modern rounds. Maybe separated into handgun and long gun would sell somewhat to gun shops for decorations if done correctly, but you'd have to watch your expenses or you could price yourself right out of this market as a lot of business owners are very stingy about marketing dollars. Especially now when all they have to do to sell successfully is have it on the shelf.
