Over on a brand dedicated forum some guys are posting about possible problems with the frame rails on current production Glocks. I noticed that on my buddies' new Glock 19 and Glock 17 the frame rails have what look like grooves wearing into them from contact with the slides. They haven's had a single malfunction and accuracy has been top notch. Has anyone experienced any problems with their Glocks?

For my money - and a nod to the current Michael Bane blog - the Glock in most cartridges is a mature refined design that works well. There are issues with hanging a light on the front - something the frames invite but don't always support.

I've got a 17 and a 19, both 3-rd generation. No unusual wear or any problems. They've been running 100% for me.

There was a run of them that had the inserts molded in backwards, and they will break off. Can't remember the serial number prefix, but I had one. Sent it to Glock, and they made a replacement frame.

of all the glocks that i have experience with and the one that i owned i never had any issues with any aspect of the gun.

E and some F series (first letter of S/N) 3rd Gen had frame rail issues, there is a S/N listing on Glocktalk somewhere. Mine was an FBRxxx Glock 34, the left rear frame rail skipped town at about 35K rounds, Glock replaced the frame on their dime, all is well for me. The gun ran fine even when broken. The real Gen 3 issue is the stupid finger grooves. I have lots to say about them, none of them nice. For me Gen II with big framerail inserts, no fingergrooves and no stupid lightrail is where it's at.

Another Glock ND! Oops, double post. Plastic gun, plastic computer, does anything plastic work around here! :neener:

As with any gun, I would look into which major police departments unapproved or banned certain models for duty that they had serious problems with even after Glock came in, due to some problems with specific models.

I like Glocks and shoot them often, but I think there are certain models that are flawed or seem to produce more problems than others. Yet again, I like them and would purchase certain models rather than others . Like any firearms they can fail, but from what I have read, certain models seem to have problems.
