I shoot left handed and grew up shooting right handed semi-automatic shotguns. I started with a Remington 1100 and now have Benelli's and have never had an issue with the shell ejecting in front of my face or hitting me in the face. I also have an AR-15 with a casing deflector and that presents no problems. I am not sure I want to shoot an AR without a casing deflector though since the receiver on an AR is fairly close to your face.

I am considering a Browning BAR (standard right side eject). Do any lefties out there have any experience shooting a right handed BAR? Any issues with cartridges hitting you in the face? I think the receiver on a BAR will be far enough away from my face to not create problems, but I wanted to check to see if anyone hyas tried this. I do not want to buy a left handed rifle since everything is backwards to what I have used my entire life.

I'm a lefty myself. I don't have any experience with the BAR, though. Regarding the AR, from what I've seen they seem to eject directly sideways. You should not need a deflector. I don't own an AR, but I've been beaned with one enough times at the range to know they don't eject at any forwards or rearward angle. You can lose the brass deflector if you wish.

Also, any AK variant will be perfectly safe for you to shoot. They tend to eject forwards at a 45-degree angle. It makes finding your brass a royal pain.
