Any Magna-Port shooters here ?

Did my 5” 629 last year. It doesn’t affect recoil and MagnaPort warns of this. It does reduce muzzle rise which allows for quicker follow up shots and that was my goal.

Yes it does blacken the front sight, but uh I remember when having a true carbon blacked front sight was desirable. Carbide lamps use to be the rage in bullseye shooting.

But-but-but... all my semi autos have serrations on the front of the trigger guard. (None of my revolvers do.) What are they for if not your (weak hand) index finger?

Yeah!

Someone needs to remind Mr. Miculek that “tactical shooters” have since deemed the serrations as nothing but ornamentation, not to be touched or handled!

*** sarcasm, for the dense ;) ***

When I shot IPSC 40+ years ago the front of the trigger guard serrations/squared off trigger guard were very "in".

Hooking the trigger guard was more common in the weaver stance days (80s and 90s). I still shoot that way when I shot two handed. Most people promote the modified fighting Isosceles stance these days because its more tactical or whatever and people are more interested in shooting as fast as possible at targets within spitting distance.

Anyways.. some shooters prefered the trigger guard hook and some felt it made people prone to pull the muzzle down. I never had a problem with it but I never tried to fight the pistol either. If anything I was always telling myself to relax when shooting early on.

Miculek does what works for him. His fundamentals are all great so telling him anything is a waste of time. Lots of ways to shoot handguns. As long as the fundamentals are sound it really doesnt matter much assuming you are comfortable and effective.

I have a Gen 1 Shield I've been shooting for 10 years, and just bought the PC Shield + with the ported barrel. I have noticed a distinct difference in muzzle flip but not really any difference in recoil, maybe a tiny bit, maybe my imagination to.
When I bought the PC model I didn't notice the ported barrel until I got home and didn't know if I would like it or not. The porting makes a mess inside the slide but isn't that hard to clean up. I have gotten use to it and to be honest I never noticed the the flash.
Titegroup doesn't make that much flash anyways so maybe that's why.
Maybe with Power Pistol I would notice it. I bet it would look cool shooting it at night with power pistol.
